Kentucky’s American Legion

Kentucky Boys State

Six Days That Will  Shapes a Lifetime

The American Legion Boys State of Kentucky is an six-day hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. Kentucky Boys State draws together the best and brightest high school juniors to help lead them down the path of individual success and leadership through “doing,” not just learning.

Kentucky’s Boys State

At American Legion Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county, and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus, and recreational programs.

College Scholarship

The Boys State program allows participants to compete for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship and other local scholarships. The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is available for high school juniors who participate in the current session of American Legion Boys State and are direct descendants (or legally adopted children) of wartime veterans that are eligible for American Legion membership.

Patriotism

American Legion Boys State believes in teaching our young men the value and sacrifices of those that preceded them by providing a deep understanding of patriotism. We assist their understanding of all levels of government encouraging their willingness to work, volunteer, and increasing their understanding of the tax process and the use of finances.

Lifetime Bonds

Standing on the shoulders of giants, Kentucky’s Boy State Program is among the best to teach Kentucky’s patriotic values, good citizenship, and governmental operations. You will be joining a long line of successful businessmen, politicians, athletes, and actors. The relationships that are developed in our program last a lifetime.
